Curatorial analysis

A fiery mist seems to surge from the very base of the canvas, devouring any impulse toward strict contours to make way for a vibrant atmosphere of combustion and shadow. Across this strictly square format of one meter per side, the eye is drawn into a chromatic hollow that eschews botanical mimesis; it depicts neither clearly defined leaves nor branches, but rather the sensory, enveloping experience of penetrating an unknown thicket. Toward the heart of the plane, the space breathes through a cool recess, tinted with veiled bluish greens and turquoises, acting as a quiet haven amidst the blazing turbulence that borders its flanks.

The material execution operates through calculated accumulation and optical transparency. The use of epoxy acrylic lends the surface a singular vitreous depth, where toasted ochres, fiery vermilions, and dark earths seem suspended between superimposed strata. Toward the perimeter, the pigments steadily densify into near-opaque shadows, fashioning a natural frame that compresses and magnifies the luminosity of the core. Over this haze of rubbed impastos and granular textures emerge faint vertical incisions, calligraphic marks, and slender drips evoking fragile stems or drafts of air, disrupting the textural density with remarkable lightness.

This persistent collision between incandescent warmth and aqueous retreat defies passive contemplation. The gravitational weight of the composition settles in the lower third, where an ignited mass of cadmium yellows and carmines radiates an upward energy, while the upper region retreats into muted purple and charcoal tones. The tenderness invoked in the title does not answer to a complacent softness, but to the discovery of an elemental refuge: an intimate chamber guarded by the roughness of the surrounding night, where the fire of matter sustains the privacy of the forest before being swallowed by the dark.
