Curatorial analysis

A luminous fissure splits the darkness vertically and completely dominates the visual field. Standing over two meters tall, the surface opens like a rift through which an almost blinding bluish-white bursts forth, dissolving the boundaries of the pictorial plane. This central axis is not a static band; it vibrates through subtle stippling and vaporous glazes that suggest an aquatic atmosphere or an expanding cosmic void.

On both flanks, the space condenses into deep indigo and jet-black tones. Lanceolate shapes and sharp brushstrokes sprout from these shadowy margins, evoking submerged leaves, thorns, or fronds that attempt to contain the central emanation. The contrast is sharp: the crisp sharpness and opacity of the edges protect and enclose that column of cottony radiance, establishing an ascending rhythm that guides the gaze tirelessly from top to bottom.

Across this threshold germinate dozens of chromatic dots that disrupt the sobriety of the blue. Spheres of magenta, warm yellow, crimson, and emerald green hover dispersed along the boundary between shadow and light. Some appear suspended at rest, while others detach and drift toward the luminosity like spores, phosphorescent pearls, or sparks from microscopic combustion. This constellation of accents lends the canvas an organic, tactile quality, where pictorial matter feels alive, casting its own bioluminescence.

The title anticipates a temporal transition: the birth of light against the shadows of night or oceanic depths. Yet, rather than depicting a naturalistic landscape, the surface offers an immersive experience of revelation. The viewer stands before a suspended portal, where dawn is not a peaceful horizontal spread, but a vertical event surging from the abyss to claim its own clarity.
