Curatorial analysis

A botanical and astronomical impulse governs this slender format measuring over two meters in height. The surface operates through a thermal ascent: at the lower base, a dense, shadowy, almost nocturnal mass gathers, from which emerges a profusion of filaments rising in search of clarity. Toward the upper left corner, a radiant disk emerges, structured through concentric circles of tiny dots evocative of a sun at its zenith, orchestrating a golden luminosity that washes over the entire canvas.

The pictorial space is articulated in overlapping translucent layers where quadrangular tesserae float in ochre, orange, and vermilion tones. These geometric fragments, crystalline in appearance and cleanly edged, interact with the organic sinuosity of the vertical lines. Each stem culminates in a bulbous swelling tipped by a glowing red dot, akin to a pistil, a biological sensor, or a spore on the verge of opening, establishing an immediate chromatic tension against the surrounding amber gradations.

Navarro constructs this atmosphere through a rigorous contrast between patient micro-markings and the fluid continuity of prolonged lines. The paint is laid down without abrasive impasto, favoring thin glazes that allow the inner light of the background to breathe, while the filaments retain a precise, almost weightless calligraphic fluidity. This economy of relief reinforces the ethereal character of the whole.

Under the title Solsticio, the canvas posits a reading where the microscopic and the cosmic converge. The stalks can be interpreted as primordial vegetation awakening to the influx of sunlight, but also as nerve filaments or suspended particles trapped in an expansive wave of heat. The outcome is a celebration of the vital cycle at its moment of greatest luminous intensity, held within a serene geometric structure.
