Curatorial analysis

An incandescent reverberation commands the canvas from the very first visual encounter. Across an expansive panoramic format of nearly two meters, the vegetation does not function as a passive backdrop, but rather as an effervescent plant mass pulsating between warm golds, vermilions, and sudden seepages of viridian green. The light originates neither from an identifiable overhead source nor an open clearing in the sky; instead, it seems to radiate from the very core of the foliage, as if chlorophyll had reached a state of mineral ignition.

The space is structured through a constant tension between depth and surface veiling. Toward the upper third, dark trunks and shadowy grounds establish a restrained vertical rhythm that is immediately disrupted by a suspended web of filaments: a gossamer tangle of whitish and copper threads falling like Spanish moss, lianas, or spectral drapery. The use of epoxy acrylic lends the support a decisive vitreous depth. Rather than accumulating into dry impasto, the matter floats encapsulated within translucent layers, allowing atomized textures and touches of pure color to operate across distinct optical distances within the pictorial plane itself.

This material treatment produces a paradox between the work's title and its plastic reality. The silence evoked by Mejía is neither stillness nor void, but the expectant suspension of a forest in noiseless combustion. The chromatic saturation, the fuchsia accents scattered among the leaf litter, and the liquid darkness of the undergrowth construct an environment where botany mutates into a feverish, hallucinatory atmosphere. Scanning horizontally across the composition, the gaze finds no rest in any conventional vanishing point, remaining instead ensnared in an infinite mesh of luminous vibrations and organic condensations that refuse to dissolve into the promised stillness.
