Curatorial analysis

A surface that appears not to have been painted with a brush but rather condensed by telluric pressure dominates the canvas from the very first moment. Through a treatment of oil paint where the matter has been compressed and then pulled away, the surface acquires a dendritic structure, full of rough ridges, veins, and wrinkles reminiscent of the bark of an ancient trunk, the underside of a prehistoric leaf, or a river basin seen from the air.

The space is articulated through a swirling mass that travels across the plane along a gentle diagonal. Toward the center and the upper quadrant, the striations fan out into fibrous clusters where raking light extracts glowing ochres, mustards, and flashes of luminous lichen green. This central zone, vital and in constant fold, contrasts with the edges of the canvas, where the impasto dissolves into shadowy, brownish glazes. This peripheral, almost smoky frame holds the gaze inward, granting the composition the depth of a cavern or an impenetrable forest floor.

There are no recognizable figures within this territory, yet every fold suggests the mineral and vegetal breath of an untamed realm. The work deliberately shuns the stereotype of a sunny, accommodating tropics; instead, the series plunges into the tactile, humid, and nocturnal dimension of nature. What awakens here is the organic memory of the rainforest, a living organism caught between geological petrification and germinal vibration, held within a monumental scale where the viewer does not merely contemplate a landscape, but is enveloped inside its biological pulse.
