Curatorial analysis

A clearing of incandescent light fractures the twilight from the exact center of the canvas, organizing the space like a botanical threshold opening onto a solar emanation. The gaze enters the surface drawn by that yellow and ochre core, an incandescence that seems to expand outward, gradually consuming the surrounding masses of emerald green and petroleum blue. Instead of offering a conventional horizon, the space curves in on itself, resembling a botanical cavern or a thicket where upper foliage descends to meet a lower stratum in chromatic combustion.

The use of acrylic combined with epoxy resin is decisive in the physical construction of the painting. The resin provides a vitreous optical depth that suspends pigments in successive layers, allowing light not merely to bounce off the canvas, but to penetrate and refract within it. Toward the upper edges, fine filaments of reddish paint descend like lianas or controlled drips, anchoring vertical tension against the dense, stippled dabs forming tree crowns and lower undergrowth. This juxtaposition between filamentous lines and rough mass endows the matter with an organic respiration.

Warm tones (vermilion, carmine, saffron) act as embers supporting the scene from the base, reverberating against the cool botanical shadows flanking each flank. A deliberate ambivalence exists between the calm of dusk suggested in the title and the almost igneous vehemence of the impastos: the landscape is not still, but rather burns in its final hour of visible daylight. The painting transcends naturalistic documentation to become an immersive experience, where nature is felt not as a vista observed from afar, but as an enveloping, dense force in perpetual mutation.
