Curatorial analysis

A framework of gray planes and offset geometries barely contains a material detonation gathered at the center of the canvas. Ramón Chirinos establishes the tension of the painting within this clash: toward the edges and background, an almost architectural quietude prevails, built from bands of cement gray, veiled whites, and straight vertical lines; in the heart of the canvas, by contrast, matter spills over into a chaotic conglomerate of textures, scrapings, and incisions.

This central core operates as a fragmented geology. Across dense impastos worked with a palette knife, sudden chromatic flares (blazing vermilions, earthy oranges, and flashes of yellow) pierce the atmospheric neutrality of the composition. Light does not emanate from a recognizable external source, but rather from the struggle between the pasty whites crowning the central mass and the opaque depth of the foundational blacks and blues. Toward the lower section, the pigment thins into vertical drips and washes, hinting at scaffolding, cables, or pilings in precarious balance.

The title suggests a journey erased by time, yet the painting avoids melancholic narrative to become a territory of active friction. There is a visual archaeology in each layer, with graphic marks, splatters, and fragments that resemble remnants of urban walls or weather-worn geographical features. The painting sustains itself precisely in that indecision between collapse and construction, as though these lost paths were topographic cross-sections of a landscape that still refuses to fall silent.
