Curatorial analysis

A geological fault or an exposed scar seems to force its way through a dense gloom. In this canvas dominated by the friction between deep darkness and ochre light, matter does not rest: it drags, scrapes, and settles in successive strata that suggest the relentless record of erosion. A luminous diagonal in bone and cream tones fractures the heaviness of the background, organizing the tensions of the space with the force of petrified lightning.

The technical treatment reveals an ongoing dialogue between raw tearing and delicacy. Broad sweepings, where a palette knife or heavy brush left grooved tracks, coexist with translucent glazes of rust and tobacco tones. In the lower left area, a fibrous curvature holds an almost organic density, reminiscent of muscle tissue or an unearthed fossil. In contrast to these solid blocks, slender white filaments snake with the fragility of a loose thread or an aerial root, introducing a calligraphic pulse that seems to challenge the rigidity of the surrounding sediments.

This coexistence of forces generates a sense of suspended time. Rather than the orderly passage of hours, it evokes the sedimentary accumulation of memory, where lived experience surfaces in disjointed fragments through veiled layers. The dark areas, far from acting as passive backdrops, operate as abysses that absorb and contain the traces of clarity, compelling the eye to decipher the textures pulsating beneath the shadowed surface.

The work functions as a stratigraphic map of persistence: a quiet struggle where light insists on filtering through, not to disperse the shadows, but to attest to what endures buried beneath the weight of years.
