Curatorial analysis

Absolute, sharp, and expansive red commands the initial visual impact. It does not function as a mere passive background, but rather as an active structure divided into angular planes of vermilion, scarlet, and orange that exert pressure from the margins toward the center. Amid this chromatic tension bursts a fractured mass of grays, whites, and charcoals, a dense and sedimented body that appears either to resist the surrounding radiation or to have collapsed under its own weight.

The square format of one and a half meters per side intensifies the collision between two opposing visual orders. On one hand, straight edges, smooth fields of color, and precise cuts impose an unforgiving geometric logic; on the other, the center erupts into an organic vortex of scrapings, glazes, and textural accumulations. Several linear incisions, notably that sharp white diagonal cutting vertically across the lower quadrant, act as taut cables holding the cluster in suspension, preventing the mass from disintegrating or escaping the canvas.

Across the surface, the pictorial matter reveals remarkable tactile complexity. There are areas where the pigment thins into a sheer veil, exposing underlying strata, while elsewhere it gathers into dense impastos, crusts, and dark calligraphies that evoke the brittle fragility of withered matter. It is precisely there that the title claims its resonance: the concept of dried flowers is not depicted through botanical mimicry, but embodied in the desiccated texture of organic residue, of what once was sap and has now become mineralized dust and rind.

What was once soft and ephemeral is anchored here as a petrified monument. The unresolved tension between the vibrant heat of the perimeter and the ashen dryness of the core turns the painting into the record of an irreversible transformation, wherein the memory of foliage survives preserved within the solidity of pictorial form.
