Curatorial analysis

An igneous, unstable core appears to burn at the exact center of the canvas, resisting the advance of a calm, grayish mass that envelops the perimeter like a persistent fog. This active core is not defined by sharp contours, but by a violent clash between deep vermilions, solar yellows, and toasted ochres, interrupted by fractures of carbon black. The painting does not illustrate an event: it is itself the matter in combustion, expanding laterally in crests and splinters of thick pigment that threaten to overflow the frame.

This chromatic architecture is built through planes applied with a forceful palette knife, dragged, and scraped with incisions that unveil underlying layers. The light does not originate from an external source outside the painting; it radiates from the yellow impasto itself and from brief white glints acting as points of internal incandescence. The contrast between the smooth, atmospheric surface of the pearl-gray ground and the almost geological roughness of the central mass creates a deeply active tension of spatial planes, compelling the eye to shift continuously between aerial dissolution and the physical weight of matter.

The title places us before a deceptive vision, a silhouette perpetually hovering between the mineral and the ephemeral. It is possible to glimpse within this vertical density the distant profile of a city consumed by the shimmer of heat, or the lingering memory of a landscape reduced to embers. By renouncing any explicit figurative anchor, the canvas preserves its oscillating nature: a luminous apparition suspended within a neutral void, where optical illusion gains substance entirely through the pure vitality of painterly matter.
