Curatorial analysis

Two contoured, taut rings interlock in an asymmetrical balance that defies the heaviness of metal. The wider outer body wraps around and seems to release a second, more frontal circular core, articulating a play of concentric voids that absorb the surrounding air. The solidity of the piece lies not in closed volume, but in the energy with which the undulating material directs the gaze into the central hollow.

The contrast of surfaces defines the pulse of the sculpture. On the exterior, high-polish metal operates like a fragmented mirror: the irregular undulations of the rim fracture the environment, multiplying light, shadow, and distortions of the immediate space with industrial crispness. In stark opposition, the interior wall reveals a ferrous, earthy, and warm tone where matte texture and visible traces of joinery hold light rather than bounce it back, establishing a rigorous dialogue between the pristine and the primordial.

Under the title Nacimiento (Birth), this material friction takes on a potent biological reading. The smaller ring emerges from the rough gloom of the larger one, evoking passage through a birth canal or the germination of a cell rupturing its protective shell. There is a moment of detachment frozen in the torsion of the planes, where the gleaming exterior appears to shield an archaic mineral memory, reminding the viewer that every act of origin involves friction, rupture, and the expulsion from a warm core into the unforgiving light of the world.
