Curatorial analysis

An ovoid body hangs suspended in the void, held solely by a slender rod that transforms mass into a menacing weightlessness. Its morphology immediately recalls the architectures of nature: a wild wasp nest, a dormant cocoon, or the mineralized exoskeleton of some marine organism. Yet there is nothing gentle in its earthy presence. The entire surface has been subjected to a rigorous system of circular perforations that sieve through the solid volume, arranged in dense rows that ripple and warp as they contour the three-dimensional form.

This punctured skin conceals and reveals at once. Each opening appears as a threshold into an impenetrable interior cavity, deepened by the dark shadows cast under direct light. Small pale barbs or teeth protrude from several of these cavities, sharp elements that rupture the homogeneity of the reticular pattern and introduce an active defense mechanism. The object is no longer merely a shelter; it is also a trap, armor, and a warning. The apparent regularity of the honeycomb is compromised by these spines pointing outwards at unexpected angles, establishing a friction between the geometric order of the hive and the biological instinct for hostility.

Under the title *Escuela*, the work triggers an incisive reflection on systems of formation, containment, and conditioning. The term simultaneously evokes institutional schooling and the gregarious flocking of fish or animals moving in shoals. In this suspended receptacle, the classroom as an incubator coexists with confinement as discipline: a collective housing where every cell is an assigned slot and where any outward growth seems to carry the price of a puncture. The monochromatic restraint of muted browns and dusty grays underlines this austere stillness, leaving the viewer before a relic that feels freshly detached from an environment as protective as it is unforgiving.
