Curatorial analysis

The sculptural relief asserts itself immediately over the pictorial plane. Configured within a circular format thirty centimeters in diameter, the surface sheds all two-dimensional convention to emerge as a tightly packed swarm of valves and petals burgeoning toward the viewer. Here, acrylic and canvas behave with the delicacy of cold-formed porcelain, articulating a dense topography that transforms homogeneous whiteness into a sophisticated map of cast shadows.

Each individual element bears its own unique curvature: edges curling inward, slender rims catching overhead light, and shadowed recesses where white dissolves into dense grays. This cellular repetition, devoid of any overt hierarchy, shuns a rigid focal center. The eye does not alight on a single hub but traverses a perpetual swell of crests and hollows, governed by a botanical rhythm that subtly breaches the perimeter of the tondo.

By relinquishing chromatic pigment, the work entrusts its entire expressive power to ambient illumination. It is the angle of the light beam that dictates tonal gradations, imbuing the whole with an almost kinetic quality: a slight shift in the viewer's stance is enough to reorganize the shadows, uncovering hidden folds beneath the upper layers.

A visual and tactile paradox underlies this fabric. What at first glance evokes an organic fragility, akin to albino foliage or colonies of marine coral, is anchored by a firm, self-contained architecture calculated within its seeming disarray. The result is an evocative dialogue between nature's expansive impulse and the geometric discipline of the circle.
