Curatorial analysis

The impact of this large format stems from an implacable gravitational force: a vertical deluge of thinned acrylic that cascades from the top of the canvas, colliding with a botanical surge rising tenaciously from the bottom. Between this liquid veil of dark turquoise, grey, and deep green tones, and the dense, variegated bloom below, a climatic tension unfolds where water materializes as both a curtain and an oppressive atmosphere.

Across the lower half, forms evoking orchids, sweet peas, or cyclamens cluster in an almost suffocating cadence. Each corolla displays a textural treatment blending pearlescent glazes, fiery carmines, and violaceous shadows, with edges that seem to trap small pockets of air before submerging. The paint folds back onto itself through marbled pools and organic contours, endowing the petals with a flesh-like vitality that stands out against the spectral fluidity of the background.

As the gaze moves upward, the floral blanket disperses into isolated stems and solitary buds that defy the downward current. The uninhibited dripping and pale vertical striations evoke a drenched rock face or a torrential downpour seen through misted glass, blurring the boundaries between outdoor wilderness and an enclosed vegetal sanctuary. There is no horizon or stable spatial reference; the viewer is enveloped by the storm, confronted with a vertical expanse that dissolves contemplative distance.

Rather than succumbing to the crushing weight of the tempest, each blossom seems to absorb the elements to heighten its chromatic intensity. The painting settles into a suspended equilibrium between disaster and biological fullness, where exposure does not erode botanical matter, but instead charges it with a luminous, pulsating vigor. Water ceases to act as an agent of decay, becoming the viscous medium through which life asserts its persistence.
