Ensueño

An explosion devoid of center or visual respite greets the viewer. Stretching across nearly two horizontal meters, the surface behaves like a botanical tide or a cellular colony observed from an absolute zenith. There is no horizon, vanishing point, or hierarchy: every square centimeter of the canvas rivals its neighbor in vivacity, compelling the eye into a continuous, restless journey stripped of conventional rest.

The structure rests upon a myriad of rounded corpuscles, small droplets of fluid paint that appear to have swelled and arrested at the very moment of collision. Within each, at least three suspended tones coexist (ultramarine blues, touches of magenta, warm oranges, and a dominant pearlescent white), ensuring that light does not arrive from an external source, but emanates from within each shape. Beneath them, a bed of dense shadows flecked with deep greens and dark earths functions as moist soil or undergrowth, thrusting the luminous elements forward.

The rhythm is musical and cumulative. The reiteration of organic forms never lapses into mechanical formula; each droplet retains an unrepeatable contour, with edges that occasionally touch and fuse, and elsewhere recede to allow the ground to breathe. A perpetual tension operates between botany and pure chromatic exercise: what from a distance reads as a dense carpet of pansies or wind-blown wildflowers dissolves up close into micro-phenomena of liquid matter.

True to its title, the painting moves beyond landscape study into hypnotic territory. The obsessive accumulation dissolves real scale, confronting the viewer with an overflowing microcosm, a half-waking state in which the exuberance of nature is experienced as pure psychic resonance.
