Curatorial analysis

An avocado cleaved in two functions as both a biological matrix and an anatomical coffer. The sculpture unfolds as a three-dimensional diptych in which two mirror-like halves open across a curved dark stone plinth, establishing an immediate gravitational and volumetric tension: the void awaiting on the left and the body emerging on the right.

Inside the right half, the conventional seed of the fruit mutates into a human figure folded upon itself. Modeled in an iridescent emerald-green sheen that contrasts sharply with the silky, golden patina of the surrounding pulp, this fetal entity assumes a stylized canon, with contours that evoke both uterine withdrawal and classical sculptural draping. Near the apex of both sections, the fruit's stem recurs transformed into a miniature interwoven silhouette, reinforcing the idea of a shared anatomy between the plant kingdom and human life.

The interplay between concavity and convexity commands the plastic reading. The hollowed basin on the left immaculately preserves the negative imprint of the absent form, turning subtraction into a latent presence; beside it, the emerging mass affirms itself through a polished, automotive-like luster that captures and fragments ambient light. The exterior skin, finished in a deep and impervious green, encloses both hemispheres like a protective carapace.

By fusing the organic genesis of the fruit with the gestation of human life, the piece transcends mere botanical analogy to inhabit the realm of an allegory on origin, fecundity, and earthly kinship. The apparent synthetic coolness of the resin is suspended by the enveloping warmth of the curves, rendering the natural cleft into the sacred threshold of a vital awakening.
