Curatorial analysis

The first impact takes place on the surface: an absolute black, polished with such neatness that it ceases to behave as a solid mass and becomes a liquid, three-dimensional mirror. The resin does not trap the gaze within its pigment; instead, it reflects it back, distorted by the anatomical curvature, assimilating the architectural environment and direct light sources into a reflective skin that shifts with the viewer's position.

This specular quality wraps an anatomy rooted in the classical tradition of the fragmented torso, yet resolved with contemporary formal synthesis. The female figure foregoes limbs and head to concentrate all its energy into a sinuous rhythm. There is a pronounced upward twist: the hips rest on a firm, compact axis, while the waist breaks the vertical line to the right, elevating the chest and collarbone in a subtle, tense contrapposto. The oblique cut of the neck and the shoulder stump introduce sharp geometric planes that precisely arrest the organic flow of the curves.

The material contrast underpins the conceptual weight of the piece. The torso rests directly upon a cubic plinth of heavily rusted iron, featuring a rough, porous, and earthy texture. This encounter between the immaculate perfection of synthetic resin and the organic decay of corroded metal generates an immediate visual friction. The patina of rust evokes weathering and the relentless passage of geological time, while the black figure rises above it unscathed, pristine, and suspended in an artificial present. Within this dialogue of opposites, the sculpture oscillates between the warmth of an implied body and the relentless chill of an object crafted with technical precision.
