Curatorial analysis

The volume does not end at its contour, as light pierces the polished surface to reveal an underwater or geological topography trapped within the resin. Rather than an opaque, solid mass, the body behaves like a block of ancient ice harboring mauve glazes, emerald green veins, and coppery glints. These internal chromatic suspensions, resembling currents frozen mid-motion, grant the piece an unusual atmospheric quality within the tradition of the sculptural torso.

The silhouette appeals to the memory of classical statuary weathered by time. The deliberate absence of head and limbs concentrates all energy into a pronounced helicoidal torsion, a contrapposto where the hip and torso twist in opposing directions. This organic curvature endows the figure with a graceful, almost aquatic rhythm, underlined by highlights gliding across the vitreous finish of the anatomical curves. There is a restrained sensuality that relies not on exact anatomical mimesis, but on the fluid tension between rounded fullness and sinuous breaks.

The rusted iron pedestal on which it rests functions not as a passive accessory, but as a decisive material counterpoint. The cubic base, rough, heavy, and eroded by mineral time, supports an ethereal body that seems to levitate within its own clarity. This friction between ferrous corrosion and crystalline purity emphasizes the apparent fragility of the resin, establishing a direct dialogue between earthly decay and suspended permanence.

Under the title Glaciar, the work suggests the fossilization of an ephemeral moment. Just as ice cores preserve the air and dust of ancient eras, this translucent body shelters at its core a choreography of pigments and transparencies that defy sculptural immobility. A dual condition emerges: the mineral solidity of a modern fossil and the imminence of a thaw that never comes to pass.
