Curatorial analysis

Light does not bounce off this torso: it inhabits its interior. Crafted from a milky, translucent resin, the figure captures ambient light and disperses it into a soft whitish gradation with subtle hints of pale blue and amber. By dispensing with the head and complete limbs, the sculpture concentrates its entire expressive force in the continuous curves of the female silhouette, where flesh seems to dissolve into a liquid, vaporous, or celestial state.

The axis of the figure breaks subtly through an upward twisting motion. While the right hip gently drops to bear the weight, the stump of the right arm rises with vertical thrust, and the left reaches outward along a more open diagonal. This asymmetry injects a restrained dynamism into the torso, which breathes through the silky smoothness of its polished finish. Anatomical markers (the hollow of the abdomen, the curve of the breasts, and the fold of the groin) are not rendered through rigid incised lines, but through soft transitions of inner light and shadow, as though the body were a fragment of melting ice or a milky gem shaped by water.

Facing this luminous weightlessness, the supporting plinth introduces a raw, relentless material confrontation. The block of rough metal, encrusted with dense brown and orange rust, anchors the figure to the earth with unmistakable mineral and industrial gravity. This contrast between spectral flesh and iron roughness underlines the ephemeral quality of the torso. Luz de Luna exists within that unresolved tension between the heavy ground of matter corroded by time and the timeless purity of a body that appears to radiate its own nocturnal glow.
