Curatorial analysis

The density of bronze transforms in this sculpture into an organic volume that seems to swell from within, held taut by an interior energy that never disturbs the serenity of the whole. A female figure of opulent contours folds upon herself, resolving her anatomy through fluid, rounded transitions where any sharp edge is absent. The uniform, dark finish, polished to a subtle sheen, responds to the surrounding light by casting satin reflections that travel along the curve of the back, the generous fullness of the hips, and the compact cadence of the gathered limbs.

The balance invoked by the title becomes tangible in the calculated relationship between sculptural mass and gravity. The figure's entire corpulence rests upon a concentrated, convex contact point set directly on the polished dark base, allowing the legs to project freely and horizontally into the void in a daring cantilever. A rigorous counterweight occurs here: the suspended thrust of the lower extremities finds its natural compensation in the downward tilt of the torso and the resting head leaning against the arms. In this way, the intrinsic weight of the metal engages in dialogue with the lightness granted by this detachment from the supporting plane.

Instead of descriptive physiognomy, the treatment of the face and the hair bun turns to an elemental formal synthesis, with serene eyelids and softly hinted features that underscore the subject's inwardness. The limbs forgo anatomical exactness to integrate into a rhythmic, unitary, and continuous circuit, offering a volumetric reading in which the human figure becomes a tactile landscape. An autonomous refuge is thus constructed, a moment suspended in space where the solid physical presence of bronze and the tranquil stillness of the body coexist in complete harmony.
