Curatorial analysis

The volume settles upon the base with the sheer force of a monolith. The entire figure is contained within an assertive pyramidal structure, where the mantle does not merely cover the body, but rather absorbs its anatomy to turn it into a sealed, compact mass endowed with enormous gravity. From the bronze block only two vital poles manage to emerge: the self-absorbed face and the soles of the bare feet resting upon the ground. The rest is an enveloping expanse that dispenses with visible limbs or anecdotal details to assert a telluric presence, grounded without any pedestal mediating between the metal and the surface that supports it.

The distribution of forces rests upon the bent knees, which stretch the fabric toward the flanks and broaden the lower section to endow it with profound stability. Down the center, a vertical drape runs from the apex of the head to the base, establishing an axis that divides the mass without lapsing into rigid symmetry. The undulations of the metal generate continuous slopes where light glides softly, while shadows thicken in the hollows and deeper folds. This luminous interplay is heightened by the patina, whose dark, coppery-brown ground allows greenish veils and muted glints to surface, accentuating the tactile quality of the modeling and the sense of matter settled over time.

Beneath the arch formed by the hood, the facial features remain serene, with heavy eyelids and lips sealed in a silence that rejects any declamatory gesture. There is neither anguish nor plea in her stance, but rather an inwardness that concentrates all dramatic tension within. The bare feet, sturdy and softly modeled at the base, reinforce an immediate bond with the earth, as though the figure itself sprouted from the material that shelters it. Despite its moderate dimensions, the piece achieves a monumental scale: an impenetrable refuge where heaviness and dignity coexist in an unshakeable equilibrium.
