Curatorial analysis

A monochromatic field of ochres and sepias dominates the surface, bathing it in the patina of an ancient document or an oxidized photographic plate. The acrylic washes, stains, and splatters do not function merely as a decorative background, but as a dense atmosphere charged with materialized time, where moisture and pigment rings suggest a space on the verge of dissolution.

Within this golden suspension linger several children's silhouettes, dispersed along an incline that hints at a shoreline or dune. They wear dark garments with white collars that evoke a remote temporality, prior to contemporary immediacy. Each figure attends to its own engrossed action: probing the ground with sticks, leaning toward the earth, contemplating an unseen horizon. The diminutive scale of the bodies against the vastness of the plane intensifies a feeling of distance and isolation, where shared presence does not dispel the solitude of each gesture.

Toward the lower section, the canvas is interrupted by a dark, loose, and vehement calligraphic stroke. These cursive, deliberately illegible lines recall the handwriting of archived letters or margin notes in a faded diary. Rather than inviting linguistic decipherment, they operate as an emotional seismography or graphic imprint anchoring the scene to an epistolary dimension. The contrast between the restrained precision of the silhouettes and the gestural outburst creates a friction that disrupts the quietude of the landscape.

Under the title Felicidad, the scene shuns obvious celebration. What unfolds instead is an elusive memory, a childhood instant retrieved from oblivion yet steeped in nostalgia and distance. The work presents happiness not as a radiant outburst, but as the quiet echo of something that perhaps existed in an unrepeatable time.
