Curatorial analysis

The initial visual impact does not stem from the horizon, but from the ground. An extreme downward perspective flattens the conventional coastal vista, positioning the eye flush with an active shore where the water has just retreated to unveil the fleeting furrows of the sand. Spanning a vertical expanse of one and a half meters, the canvas transforms a surface we usually tread without noticing into an almost topographic relief, carved by the marine backwash with astounding precision.

This architecture of ridges, ripples, and slender dark crevices organizes the surface through diagonals that flow from the bottom toward the upper edge, where a more horizontal band hints at the flat calm of the incoming tide. The rhythm is dictated by deep shadows pooling within the channels and the sandy crests that rise into the light. This contrast is maintained not through chromatic loudness, but via neutral gradations: mineral browns, ash grays, diluted ochres, and glints of a muted violet that evokes the sky mirrored upon shallow puddles.

Mixed media achieves here something notoriously difficult to attain with pure paint: the viscosity, weight, and transparency of salinity saturating the earth. The grain feels tactile, almost sculptural, while a satin sheen catches the frontal light of the exhibition space, ensuring the water appears perpetually liquid depending on the viewer's angle.

The title invites a reading that transcends naturalist inquiry. This reunion is, first and foremost, the meeting of water and land in an unceasing cycle that erases every prior mark to forge another fleeting contour. Yet it also suggests reconnecting with an elemental contemplative state, where human time remains suspended before the blind patience of marine sediments.
