Curatorial analysis

Light passes through the glass, turning it into a living body where color does not merely rest upon matter, but constitutes it. In this figure, the female face emerges from a faceted geometry reminiscent of traditional stained-glass divisions, yet liberated from the constraint of lead came. Her presence is articulated through intersecting translucent planes: a cerulean and turquoise mask crosses the serene gaze, while the cheekbone and chin gather warm ochre and orange tones speckled with tiny air bubbles trapped during kiln firing.

The vertical axis of the neck, deliberately elongated, supports a head crowned with dynamic ribbons that seem to unfurl in the wind. The title directly hints at this lightness that defies the physical weight of glass. Toward the left, a cloud of pulverized glass frit produces a stippled, volatile atmosphere, akin to cosmic dust suspended in the void. At the opposite edge, a solid band of cobalt blue seals the flank with an almost abyssal density, establishing an immediate chromatic tension against the vermilion red draping the torso.

This lower garment concentrates the strongest material force of the whole. The red bands, boasting clean edges and visible thickness, fall in diagonals that structure the chest with architectural firmness, contrasting with the delicate graphic quality of the dark lines delineating the lips, nose, and eyelid. Standing upon an austere, linear iron mount, the panel achieves a distinct sculptural autonomy.

The piece proposes a meditation on fragility and endurance. Rather than concealing the thermal incidents inherent to the medium, it embraces them as tactile textures where transparency shifts according to the surrounding light, transforming this figure into a threshold breathing luminosity.
