Curatorial analysis

Suspended glass claims for itself the quality of a light that does not bounce, but rather passes through it. In this freestanding sculpture, the vitreous material functions as a three-dimensional drawing, articulating the silhouette of a tree whose canopy does not seek the density of foliage, but the organized fracture of air. A vertical stem, elongated and impeccably upright, supports an assemblage of fragments that seem to have frozen the precise instant in which a gust of wind shakes the branches.

This botanical architecture is built upon carefully calculated tensions. The crown decomposes into angular and convex planes that touch, overlap, and leave transparent interstices, creating a syncopated rhythm of seam lines. The edges, softened by kiln heat, temper the sharp corners of the glass, while a constellation of minute air bubbles remains trapped within the material's thickness. These gaseous inclusions refract direct illumination like a mist of static dew, endowing the volume with an internal vibration that counters the industrial coldness of the medium.

The decisive contrast occurs at the encounter with the earth. In opposition to the pristine transparency and the air enclosed within the crystal, the sandstone base introduces roughness, geological weight, and the blind fracture of the quarry. The stone makes no attempt to disguise its origin; its jagged, uneven edge emphasizes the aerodynamic neatness of the column emerging from it. In that dialogue lies a reflection on rootedness and weightlessness, where the trunk ascends not to dominate the surrounding space, but to dissolve into it.

Under the title that names it, the piece strips the concept of quietude of any decorative complacency: serenity here is not sterile stillness, but the fragile balance of crystalline components that resist gravity without relinquishing their delicacy.
