Curatorial analysis

A feminine face emerges from the vitreous density, suspended between the warmth of fused pigment and the purity of crystalline transparency. In this three-dimensional sculpture, the material does not function as a passive support for the drawing, but as an active luminous body that preserves the heat of the fire that transformed it. The hair, composed of intense overlapping strips of carmine red glass, amber accents, and black shards that crown the head like an undulating headdress, descends with an energetic vertical rhythm, defining the outer silhouette and framing the facial features with almost theatrical firmness.

In the central area, the skin gathers a granular and tactile texture where particles of glass powder in ochre and golden tones simulate a freckled, intensely sunlit complexion. This porous and irregular surface contrasts with the polished fluidity of the adjacent layers. The frontal gaze, outlined with direct black strokes, immediately captivates through a subtle heterochromia in the eyes, whose chromatic disparity accentuates a state of deep, enigmatic introspection. Hundreds of micro-bubbles of air trapped within the vitreous mass serve as geological witnesses to the kiln firing, diffusing external light and endowing the face with an internal luminescence that shifts according to the viewer's position.

Toward the base, the visual temperature undergoes a radical transition. The blazing fire of the upper register gives way to a translucent torso in turquoise and cerulean blue tones, across which float floral motifs rendered in spontaneous black linework and spiral centers. This thermal counterpoint between the fiery warmth of the head and the aquatic serenity below establishes a harmonious compositional tension, wherein the human figure seems to emerge from or submerge into a liquid medium. Held by a minimal iron mount, the figure casts colored reflections onto its surroundings, demonstrating how the structural solidity of glass relief can coexist with an ethereal and vulnerable atmosphere.
