Curatorial analysis

A voluptuous body is suspended in midair, defying the very weight of metal. Supported solely by the lower anchor where the folds of the skirt touch the base, the figure projects into an audacious diagonal toward the void, dragged or perhaps deliberately propelled by an umbrella open to the gale. The tension between the material density of bronze and the immediate illusion of weightlessness forms the core of the scene. We are presented with an anatomy of generous, rounded volumes that does not succumb to gravity, but rather seems to float by virtue of the very force threatening to destabilize it.

The construction of forms contrasts polished skin with symbolic incisions that fragment formal continuity. Both on the right thigh and on the umbrella canopy, jigsaw puzzle pieces emerge, interlocking or on the verge of fitting together, their recesses revealing a rough, porous texture that absorbs light. This device contrasts eloquently with the silky, warm finish of the torso and legs. In turn, the chromatic treatment enriches this duality: the deep wine-red tone of the skirt, achieved through a vibrant reddish patina, emphasizes the dynamism of the wind-whipped fabric, distinctly setting itself apart from the earthy, coppery luster enveloping the flesh.

With arms in extreme tension and hands firmly gripping the curved handle, the woman surrenders her body to the current without relinquishing control over her course. Her face tilts upward and her hair waves backward, responding to a gust that can only be sensed through the resistance of the drapery. Her bulbous limbs, which taper progressively into minute, arched feet, accentuate an aerial grace uncommon in such monumental volumes. The puzzle pieces marking both body and artifact do not signify an irremediable fracture, but rather the memory of a reconstruction mid-flight, where resilience lies in holding oneself whole precisely in the midst of the storm.
