Curatorial analysis

An emphatic weightlessness dominates the space. The female figure floats suspended in a perfect diagonal traversing the surface from left to right, defying any earthly law of physics. With her golden tunic arched in mid-flight and black hair swept backward by the momentum of her motion, the woman extends her hands toward a burning flame that emerges like an offering or a talisman. Resting upon her head is an architectural headdress, topped by vessels and ceramic silhouettes, underscoring the ritual link between the figure and the telluric craft of fired clay.

Orbiting this central body are three winged creatures rendered in red and crimson plumage, their forms combining fabulous birds with meticulous botanical ornamentation. These mythical beings are no casual companions; arranged across three visual focal points, they counterbalance the tension of flight and establish a rotational cadence that envelopes the protagonist in a mythic vortex. The visual rhythm relies on the alternation between the warm vibration of the vermilions and the luminous solidity of the yellow robe.

The atmospheric ground, immersed in a deep cobalt blue that darkens in the lower corners and catches fire in an ochre glow toward the upper right, transforms the graphic medium into an almost painterly spatial experience. The ink transparencies conjure a cosmic twilight where the support's texture merges with visual grain, heightening the brilliance of the flame.

Fernández conceives here an allegorical universe where fire does not consume, but illuminates, consecrates, and transforms. Divested of mundane gravity, the work sustains itself on that subtle friction between the lightness of a body drifting through the night and the alchemical intensity of matter born of heat.
