Curatorial analysis

The entire space glows with a single amber vibration, suspended between solar glare and the texture of memory. Seven childhood figures, resolved almost entirely in silhouette using deep browns and minimal touches of white on their collars, inhabit a horizontal band suggestive of a beach at low tide or a flooded flat. The scale of the characters against the vastness of the hundred-by-one-hundred-and-sixty-seven centimeter canvas emphasizes the smallness of their everyday gestures: absorbed boys fishing, probing with sticks, or searching for something hidden in puddles that barely return their trembling reflections.

The painting eschews traditional perspective to sustain itself through purely material tension. There is no clear horizon or sky detached from the ground; the pictorial surface is organized through dragged layers, horizontal scumbles, translucent glazes, and small constellations of splatters that give the background a dense, almost tactile atmosphere. Across this golden expanse, the figures act as visual anchors distributed in two asymmetrical clusters: four on the left stepping rhythmically into the distance, and two on the right holding the foreground, while a lone presence further back watches from above.

The anachronistic clothing, with tailored shorts and stiff white collars, lifts the scene out of contemporary anecdote and places it within the elusive terrain of collective memory. The fractured reflection beneath each boy's feet does not reproduce the body with physical fidelity; rather, it unravels into a nervous stroke of dark pigment, as though the water were unable to hold onto solid form.

By dissolving geographic contours within this incandescent bath, the scene transforms a coastal game into an elegiac vision. Childhood remains suspended as a remote interval, preserved inside a mineral radiance that seems to shield its protagonists from the passing of time.
