Curatorial analysis

An incandescent pulse anchors the central axis of Cathedralis. In a monumental vertical format that towers over the viewer, the surface operates through the logic of a Gothic ogive reinterpreted through the language of paint. The central core, bathed in pale yellows and near-snow flashes, concentrates a luminosity that seems backlit. There is no pursuit of literal transparency or translucent glass imitation here, but rather a pictorial construction of accumulated light, where each polygonal segment holds and projects heat with the intensity of an ember.

This nuclear clarity expands outward toward the flanks across successive halos of amber, glowing orange, and carmine, held by a dense network of dark lines. These filaments, reminiscent of the lead came in stained glass yet equally evocative of cellular or venous tissue, guide the eye in a continuous ascent toward the pointed apex. Near the outer edges, the canvas temperature drops drastically: warm tones surrender to deep violets, muted magentas, and near-nocturnal earthy grounds, establishing a chromatic tension that isolates and magnifies the central radiance.

At the base and along the vertical channels, the geometry turns organic. The architectural rigidity of the arch dissolves into branching tendrils that seem to drip, root, or bleed over the lower edge, where tiny spheres and pigment nodules suspend the flow of matter. This apparent liquefaction transforms the solemnity of the temple into a living, mutable entity, a biological cathedral breathing between mystical architecture and internal anatomy. The canvas transcends its static nature to present an experience of spiritual elevation and physical containment, where oil paint assumes the role of a sacred fire in perpetual combustion.
