Curatorial analysis

An incandescent sun and a cratered, textured full moon stand guard over opposite ends of a monumental horizon, suspended under the same celestial vault. Across nearly three and a half meters of horizontal span, the canvas dissolves chronological sequence to allow midday and midnight to coexist within a single urban vision, where architecture sheds its mineral rigidity and yields to an elastic vitality.

To the left, classical pediments and Doric colonnades bend rhythmically while a white feline prowls along a gilded balustrade. Moving toward the center and the right, the scene surges upward in a profusion of stylized spires, ribbed domes, and factory chimneys that evoke modernist and cathedral silhouettes. Each structure is densely compartmentalized by thick black lines reminiscent of stained glass, organizing pure chromatic fields where vibrant magentas, vermilions, turquoises, and sunny yellows meet. Within this fragmented grid, enigmatic motifs emerge: a vertical fish caught inside a pillar, disembodied hands, open eyes keeping watch from the walls, and ascending plumes that culminate in floating constellations.

The pictorial matter works in two contrasting modes. While the architectural planes are resolved with the graphic sharpness of smooth, saturated acrylic, the two celestial bodies receive an atmospheric, tactile treatment, with diffused halos that cast radiance across the dominant blue of the sky. This tension between decorative flatness and cosmic glow endows the surface with a continuous vibration.

Rather than a recognizable landscape, this frieze offers a dreamlike cartography where the metropolis breathes as a living organism. The coexistence of day and night transforms the cityscape into a secular temple of fantasy, arresting time in a perpetual celebration of form, constructive memory, and unbridled color.
