Curatorial analysis

A fisheye panoramic distortion shatters the monumental rigidity of the French capital, turning it into a celebratory whirlwind. Across more than two meters in width, Carlos Tapia deploys a scene where architectural icons shed their historical gravity to bend under the centrifugal force of the night. The Eiffel Tower arches like an elastic beacon projecting its beam into the sky, while Notre-Dame, mansard roofs, and arcaded galleries converge toward the vanishing point where the Arc de Triomphe stands.

The central organizing axis is an avenue rushing downward toward the viewer, translated into vehicular light trails through continuous filaments of acrylic. On the left flank, yellow and white lines suggest oncoming headlights; on the right, a dense tangle of crimson streaks evokes retreating taillights. These luminous arteries contrast sharply with the stippled texture of the roadside foliage, resolved through loose, thick dabs of green and powder blue that anchor the bottom of the plane.

The buildings are defined by thick, decisive black outlines reminiscent of stained glass or graphic illustration, enclosing areas of pure, radiant color. Glowing yellow windows, turquoise domes, and violet mansards shimmer beneath a sky where deep cobalt fractures into radiating streaks and golden specks, akin to a perpetual fireworks display.

The monumental scale of the canvas heightens this sensation of urban vertigo. París Glitter seeks not topographical precision, but the electric, almost childlike thrill of the metropolis: a realm where stone becomes pliable, traffic dissolves into liquid energy, and the Parisian night assumes the effervescence of an ongoing theatrical spectacle.
