Curatorial analysis

A horizon of electric cables and suspended utility poles cuts across the canvas from side to side, stripping the city of any terrestrial foundation. Instead of resting on solid ground, this aerial metropolis drifts above a cerulean blue abyss that dominates the lower half of the panoramic format, expanding in vertical washes and glazes that evoke both an unfathomable atmosphere and the calm of a watery mirror.

The compositional structure is sustained by an evident struggle between weight and lightness. The wires, drawn with incisive black lines that sag beneath the weight of their own apparent gravity, hold together a vibrant band of condensed architecture. In this central zone, the pictorial matter erupts through thick impastos worked with a palette knife: incandescent blocks of ochre, vermilion, and flecks of bright yellow suggesting tightly packed facades, transformers, and wakeful windows. This rough, tactile crust, filled with luminous accidents, contrasts drastically with the fluidity of the blue background, where pigment cascades down in ethereal veils that dissolve the structure below.

This duality of textures generates a syncopated visual rhythm across the upper band, a bustle where the poles act as vertical measures attempting to organize the chaos. Yet there is no ground to anchor this infrastructure; the city exists solely as a network, sustained by the very current it transmits. By stripping the scene of physical moorings, the work proposes a metaphor of the hyperconnected yet fragile metropolis, a system suspended in the void that appears to hold itself aloft purely through the tension of its own wires.
