Curatorial analysis

A suspended mass of indigo blue breaks the solar warmth dominating the canvas, anchored precisely at the vertex where two heavy, dark beams intersect. This block of cold pigment, punctured only by a minuscule vermilion dot, acts as an inescapable visual magnet. Around this epicenter, space unfolds in an atmosphere of golden ochres, earthy siennas, and transparencies reminiscent of geological strata or weathered surfaces exposed to the elements.

The painting is structured around an almost architectural rigor that coexists with the chaos of raw impulse. The solid, rough black cruciform axis sustains the central tension of the plane and divides the ground into asymmetrical quadrants, yet its rigidity is promptly undermined. Horizontal bands of opaque matter traverse the plane at mid-height, while fluid washes and glazes reveal the weave of the canvas along the upper and lower edges, establishing a dialogue between density and dissolution.

Upon this tectonic foundation unfolds a liberated gesture. Undulating lines in ivory white, executed with the lightness of a stylus or a loaded palette knife, crawl across the surface in a calligraphic automatism. Some form concentric loops in the upper left; others cascade in tangled threads that drip down the vertical beam, defying gravity with an electric gesturalism. The matter shifts constantly in density: the opaque paste of the black and blue contrasts with aqueous pools that run in brown glazes, revealing a process of accumulation and erasure.

This oscillation between containment and overflow imbues the canvas with an enigmatic resonance. The blue mass upon the crossbeam evokes both a perched presence (a raptor, a totem, a spectral figure) and a purely plastic occurrence that resists any definitive figurative lock. The scene vibrates on that uncertain threshold where graphic mark becomes interior landscape, sustained by a yellow light that seems to seep outward from within the support itself.
