Curatorial analysis

A horizontal fracture organizes the canvas before the eye can untangle its web of filaments. Above, a mustard and ochre atmosphere, permeated by a fine rain of dark specks, sustains a taut network of black and white drippings that fall and ricochet in all directions. Below, by contrast, the paint densifies into a vegetal or geological stratum, where off-white, slate grey, and dark shadows form a compact mass, resembling a frozen surge of surf or charred undergrowth fighting to expand toward the light.

Between both realms, a detail surfaces that destabilizes a purely gestural reading: two domes or discs in greyish hues, stippled and subtle, half-emerging from the lower thicket like buried orbs. These circular forms introduce an unexpected geometric stillness. They operate as visual anchors against the vertiginous dynamism of the upper drippings, showing that the apparent disorder answers to a rigorous calibration of planes and weights. The canvas is not merely the record of an impulsive action, but a stratified field where liquid and solid matter negotiate their territory.

The white strokes, cast in almost elastic threads, act as conductors of light crossing the full scale of the painting, binding the heaviness of the base to the warm reverberation of the backdrop. That tension between the suspended clarity of the yellow and the material agitation below invites readings ranging from a turbulent landscape (the edge of a torrent or frost-covered brambles) to a visual essay on the resistance of form against entropy. Ultimately, what holds the gaze is that perpetual collision between the impact of spontaneous gesture and the quiet architecture underlying the shadows.
