Curatorial analysis

The first thing that asserts itself is the hostility of the skin. Hundreds of rust-red pencils, rigorously sharpened, sprout outward from the body like an armor of mineral and vegetal spines. Each tip terminates in a dark dot of graphite that threatens to break contact, turning the figure into an untouchable organism. The raw material of writing and drawing, customarily associated with the subtlety of paper and the docile gesture of the hand, is here transformed into defensive shielding.

The posture, however, denies any aggression. The body sits on the floor with legs parted and arms folded back toward the lap, holding a rectangular volume of aged wood in an attitude of quiet introspection. There is a monastic stillness in the way the hands clasp this closed tome, suspended at chest level. The human scale reinforces that intimacy, yet the anatomical termination fractures any direct empathy: the neck has been horizontally severed to expose a flat plane of clean wood, crowned by the metallic rim of circular ferrules.

This geometric decapitation does not denote violence, but conscious emptying. By stripping the character of face, gaze, and perceptual organs, the act of leaning toward the book dispenses with physical sight and shifts toward a psychic dimension. The title underlines this paradox, where the head harbors no visible thoughts or memories, offering itself as a tabula rasa while the entire body brims with dormant creative instruments. In that contrast between the piercing tension of the epidermis and the motionless serenity of the blind reader, the work formulates a meditation on inner silence, contained memory, and the isolation that precedes every creative impulse.
