Curatorial analysis

A dense mass of turquoise corpuscles emerges from the lower edge, vying for space against a viscous curtain of earthy, ashen, and ochre tones. The contrast is not merely chromatic, but one of opposing material behaviors: while the background resolves through vertical drippings and dense glazes suggesting sap, rain, or a mineralized bark, the foreground forms settle as compact, rounded applications endowed with an almost sculptural tactile relief.

The modest format of just twenty-seven by twenty-two centimeters intensifies the proximity of the gaze, transforming the canvas into an aperture onto a botanical or microscopic scale. At the base, these sky-blue units cluster in a tight rhythm reminiscent of lichens colonizing damp stone or a thick carpet of small wild petals. Toward the center and the upper register, the vegetation gradually disperses. Minimal, dark stems support solitary corollas that seem to hover against the torrents of sienna, mud, and diluted white, generating an upward momentum that counteracts the earthy heaviness of the background.

The palette establishes an unsettling tension between the organic and the synthetic. The almost electric luminosity of the turquoise deliberately clashes with the warm, murky temperature of the substrate. There is no traditional or docile botanical garden here; the surface evokes both persistent germination and a kind of chemical fossilization. Acrylic operates simultaneously as crust and sediment, capturing pictorial matter mid-process in a state of geological mutation and biological growth.
