Curatorial analysis

A tangle of leaves, brittle stems, and dense shadows abruptly stands between the viewer's gaze and any possible horizon. There is no escape into the distance nor any panoramic calm; the plane is overtaken by the vegetal agitation of a thick brushwood that seems to resist, almost with organic desperation, the close of the dry season. Light bursts in from the upper left corner like a pale glare that disintegrates contours, yet instead of ordering the space, it sharpens the disorientation of the branches and the tactile crackle of the undergrowth.

The painting is built from a ravenous rhythmic tension. Vertical and oblique strokes cross in multiple directions, configuring a nervous weave where the pictorial matter accumulates volume and roughness. Toward the lower center, the earthy palette and brownish greens fracture under a startling presence: leaves of an ash-blue, almost frosted tone contrast with an oxidized reddish core and a series of white arches that evoke skeletal remains or thorns as much as foliage veins scorched by the sun. This chromatic vibration shatters the continuity of the underbrush, introducing a poignant, dramatic visual center of gravity.

At this generous scale of one meter by nearly one and a half, the scrubland takes on the monumentality of a living wall. The surface does not seek to describe botanical species with taxonomic precision, but to record the vital pulse of a retreating earth: the descending sap, fibers turning to kindling, and the relentless friction between the cool shadows of the soil and the blinding glare of the upper canopy. It is a landscape not to be contemplated from afar, but one that envelops the viewer in its rawness, offering a meditation on the relentless cycle of heat and the threshold of seasonal transition.
