Curatorial analysis

The eye is deceived by impeccable discipline: although not a single bar bends, the entire assembly ripples. In this vertical relief against a matte black ground, a column of polished and satin metallic slats defies the rigidity of its own geometry. The apparent torsion does not arise from material deformation, but from the rhythmic shifting of its ends and the alternation between silver and golden rods, whose stepped arrangement generates an almost organic silhouette, akin to a moving vertebra.

Light acts decisively upon this kinetic apparatus. Each horizontal profile captures the surrounding space and splinters it into linear reflections that shift alongside the viewer. The alternating finishes refract luminance into continuous bands that seem to curve across the center, accentuating an illusory three-dimensionality born from strictly flat, orthogonal components. The shadow cast by each slat against the dark panel contributes actual physical depth, a low-relief that intensifies the vibrating pulse of the structure.

In opposing corners, two trapezoidal planes of brushed copper introduce an indispensable counterbalancing tension. Positioned in the upper left and lower right quadrants, these solid, opaque blocks anchor the centrifugal force of the central axis. While the striated column suggests velocity and optical displacement, the copper grounds the gaze through resolute material weight and warm temperature. This confrontation between what flows and what remains grants the piece its magnetic balance, demonstrating how the strict interference of pure lines can dissolve the solidity of matter into pure perceptual phenomenon.
