Curatorial analysis

Blue does not operate here as a passive record of sea and sky, but as an enveloping pulse pressing from the canvas edges. Between the dense immensity of the water in the foreground and the charged atmosphere of the firmament, the strip of land blazes in an electric yellow. Punta Uva thus unfolds as a feverish vision of the Caribbean coast, where ordinary geography yields to a chromatic eruption of almost magical resonance.

Vernacular architecture, with its wooden stilt houses, emerges from tight, discontinuous vegetation. These structures in sky blue and turquoise, accented by vibrant pink frames, seem to float on the sandy slope before merging into the foliage. There is no intent to reproduce mathematical perspective: the scale of volumes responds instead to an emotional logic, in which the buildings become fragile shelters against an exuberant and continuous nature.

Amid this chromatic density, human figures are reduced to minimal silhouettes cut out in charcoal black. Stripped of individual features, they turn into signs of pure presence: bodies swimming with arms barely suggested above the surf, wanderers on the sand, and a dog trotting to the left. This gestural synthesis grants them a timeless quality, as though they were fleeting apparitions inhabiting the landscape without disturbing its primordial cadence.

The acrylic medium is laid down freely, accumulating layers, scumbles, and scrapings that reveal the tensions beneath. Light does not emanate from an identifiable external source; it bursts from the direct clash of pigments, particularly along the break line where white and sky blue crackle against the deep sea. González suspends the Caribbean at an exact juncture between sensory memory and the intensity of everyday myth.
