Curatorial analysis

Two synthetic presences, resolved with the calligraphic boldness of pure black, emerge against a background where light appears to descend in continuous vertical bands. The graphic economy of the figures is radical: oval heads devoid of facial features, arms that delineate the torso without fully enclosing it, and lower limbs that stretch toward the bottom edge. In the absence of bodily fill, the interior of these bodies does not belong to them, but rather to the atmosphere that surrounds them. Space passes straight through their physiognomy, turning them into thresholds rather than solid masses.

The surface, worked in mixed media, reveals a tactile ground where the matter possesses thickness and the memory of a spatula. Across this textured substrate unfolds a rhythmic curtain of vertical pastel stripes, with muted sky blues, warm sands, and ashen lilacs. This restrained and luminous chromatic vibration substantiates the suggestion of the title. There is a rhythmic fall, a constant flowing of vertical bands evoking the shifting veil of a torrent of water or the refraction of light generated when passing through it.

Between the two figures, a silent dialogue unfolds, governed by subtle asymmetries. While the figure on the left stands upright and frontal, the one on the right tilts its head slightly, introducing an inflection of listening or closeness that immediately humanizes the rigor of the pictogram. The millimeter distance between the black strokes delineating their arms generates a contained tension, the possibility of a brush that never quite materializes. González suspends these two beings in a state of shared contemplation, where the weight of the black stroke is paradoxically lightened by the water or light that endlessly falls behind them.
