Curatorial analysis

A fiery red engulfs almost the entirety of the surface, dissolving any preconceptions of a tranquil or diurnal coastal landscape. Rather than offering filtered marine light or the calm greens of the Pacific, Luis Chacón presents an incandescent atmosphere on this canvas, where the sky transforms into a field of pure chromatic energy that challenges the stillness of the referenced geography.

In the upper section, a dense burst of blue, black, and green splatters expands like a suspended botanical canopy or a sudden electrical storm. This material cluster, laden with vertical drips that descend under gravitational tension, dialogues with the visual language of gestural expressionism. The cerulean and cobalt tones, applied through a vibrant rhythm of fine speckles and denser spots, serve as a visual counterweight to the voracity of the surrounding vermilion, producing high-temperature optical vibration and complementary contrast.

Toward the lower register, the horizon is structured through sinuous lines and horizontal bands defining the silhouette of hills and the sweep of tides. Here, blue and green glide in flat ribbons and watery curves, delineating the mountainous profile before meeting the coastal foreground. This terrestrial grounding provides an almost cartographic stability, an anchor that keeps the image from dissolving entirely into abstract automatism.

The dialogue between the controlled violence of the aerial dripping and the linear calm of the coastline suggests a territory in constant, intimate combustion, where nature is not contemplated through mimetic distance, but endured as an overflowing telluric force. Punta Islita is thus transmuted into a boundary sensorial experience, suspended between crepuscular brilliance and the biological pulse of its tropical setting.
