Curatorial analysis

A thick, viscous moon drips its gold over a turquoise sky where the stars have been replaced by a swarm of plump bees. Drawing upon an unavoidable visual reference to the starry night imagery, this canvas deploys a literal wordplay: the honeymoon night turns into a veritable moon of honey, drenched in an atmosphere of cheerful fable and graphic vibration.

The surface is constructed through an almost artisanal patience that lends the canvas the tactile quality of a mosaic or stained glass. Each section of sky and land is bordered by dark lines and covered with tiny drops of raised acrylic, mineral pearls that catch the gallery's ambient light and imbue the scene with an unexpected third dimension. This bead-like relief, applied both to the sky's golden filaments and the rugged bark of the cypress rising on the left, generates a continuous kinetic pulse: the painting seems to buzz, animated by the mathematical reiteration of dots and cells.

In contrast to the drama and psychological angst historically linked to swirling nocturnal vistas, here a luminous irony prevails. The architecture of the hamlet, huddled at the foot of undulating hills and crowned by the scarlet spire of the belfry, rests with the placidity of a children's model village. The bees hover with lively eyes and wings suspended in the ether, domesticating cosmic vastness through humor and the visual idiom of animation. By transforming celestial melancholy into an inviting and luminous landscape, the canvas dismantles the solemnity of the pictorial canon to celebrate artifice, sweetness, and unapologetic visual joy.
