Curatorial analysis

A strange naturalness governs this living room where two savannah animals share a sofa in front of the television. The scene suspends all logic of scale: the giraffe bends its endless neck to accommodate the height of the furniture, awkwardly stretching its legs onto the wooden floor, while the zebra remains seated with the attentive docility of a domestic pet. Between them, a bowl brimming with popcorn and two small cups with straws complete the domestic ritual of an ordinary evening.

The space is articulated through a marked vertical division that splits the wall into two solid color fields: an emerald green and a deep cobalt blue. This partition not only organizes the room but also assigns each visitor their own half of the stage and their corresponding symbolic counterpart. On the green wall hangs a close-up painting of the giraffe; on the blue, an oval cameo frames the solemn profile of the zebra. This mirroring of portraits within the painting intensifies the sense of uncanniness, doubling the wild identities that inhabit a comfortable, bourgeois interior.

The epoxy acrylic technique lends the surface a dense, opaque tactile quality, where artificial light acquires tangible weight. The conical glow of the amber lamp competes with the corner shadows and with the small patch of starry night peeking timidly from behind the curtain. This targeted illumination meticulously models the geometric patterns of the fur and the grain of the wooden console, endowing the figures with a resolute solidity.

Humor coexists with a subtle perceptual unease. By confining the monumental and the wild within the boundaries of casual evening entertainment, the scene uproots its protagonists from their habitat to propose an improbable coexistence, laden with a tenderness as ordinary as it is disquieting.
