Curatorial analysis

A golden, fiery glow blankets the entire scene, handled like a theatrical stage where the air feels as dense as resin. At the center of the space advances a monumental creature that defies anatomy: its head and neck, crowned by an explosion of snow-white sphinx-like feathers, emerge from a wooden and bone carriage supported by a fragile wheel of threadlike spokes. The contrast between the tactile opulence of the ivory plumage and the rigid mechanics of the rolling artifact immediately sets up a tension between the promise of flight and the servitude of dragging along the ground.

In the background, a gigantic vaulted cage in crimson hues dominates the perspective. Its bars suggest that the open expanse traversed by this being is merely another chamber of captivity, a larger enclosure without a visible sky. Inside the flank of the vehicle, an illuminated doorway reveals a small figure in a frock coat and top hat, confined within the winged being itself. The creature does not merely transport its confinement: it is both dwelling and prison.

Surrounding the colossus is a silent procession of figures clad in green robes and conical headgear, gliding on tiny unicycles. One of them, slender and insect-like with transparent wings, appears to guard the march, while another reverently picks up a feather fallen from the central body. The mixed media technique enriches this universe through rubbed and scumbled backgrounds that grant the walls an aged patina, against which the smoothness of the albino face assumes an almost mortuary stillness.

The entire scene operates as a theatrical allegory of consented or imposed confinement. Free of commotion, every element takes part in a solemn procession where the taming of the winged creature is carried out with exquisite elegance: canceled flight becomes a rolling spectacle.
