Curatorial analysis

The act of painting overflows its own space: the profile figure does not merely illustrate a canvas, but seems to release living matter into the infinite blue. With an imposing scale that exceeds one meter eighty in height, the protagonist stands as a resounding vertical axis. Her stylized silhouette, featuring a slender neck glowing in a salmon gradient and a serene face beneath a light blue eye mask, holds the stained palette with lightness while her brush gives birth to small green birds upon the whiteness of the support.

Behind the painter's back, this newly inaugurated flight achieves autonomy. Two birds, one vivid red and the other snowy-plumaged, cross the clear atmosphere toward the right margin, as if they had leapt from the white surface into the open air. At the lower edge, a golden cage rests atop dark trunks, establishing a subtle dialectic regarding artistic creation conceived as flight and emancipation. The small bird confined in the shadows contrasts vividly with the aerial creatures born of her brushstroke.

The pictorial surface vibrates thanks to the textile treatment of the gown, adorned with meticulous floral arabesques in lavender and turquoise tones reminiscent of antique tapestries. This play of flat patterns clashes delicately with the smoothness of the body and the subtle material textures of the cerulean background, where the oil builds slight relief. The light does not originate from an external source, but from the figure's own radiance and that ethereal atmosphere crowned by a tiny crescent moon. The scene suspends everyday time to place us on a poetic threshold, where painting ceases to be a craft and becomes a rite of transfiguration.
