Curatorial analysis

A hybrid creature, possessing the body of a bird and the serene face of a woman with flowing dark hair, suspends its flight at the heart of a botanical whirlwind. Across this surface spanning more than two meters in width, the figure does not assert itself through rigid contours or as an isolated portrait; instead, it seems to emerge from the very same vital pulse that generates the surrounding giant sunflowers. Its torso, modeled in cool turquoises and emeralds, operates as an optical center of gravity where the luminous turbulence of the background finds a momentary truce.

The pictorial space is organized around a centrifugal force sweeping the canvas from edge to edge. Toward the left, fiery masses of carmine and orange collide with sulfurous yellows through sweeping brushstrokes that bend the perspective; toward the right, vertical and diagonal strokes of sap green and white propel the eye into a more open, ethereal atmosphere. The medium reveals a process of superimposed layers where dry scumbles, translucent glazes revealing the canvas ground, and delicate vertical drips coexist, confirming the liquid nature of the pigment. The dark discs of the sunflowers function as botanical eyes that multiply the gaze and return tension toward the center.

This monumental scale fosters an experience of total immersion in which the viewer's body is seized by the vibration of color. The metamorphosis articulating the scene transcends mere mythological fantasy: it suggests a deliberate dissolution of boundaries between the individual and nature. Embodying the title of the work, the female figure surrenders her anatomical solidity to become pure chromatic substance, suspended in a perpetual state of germination and flight.
