Curatorial analysis

A low, dilated horizon organizes this riverine landscape, conceived in a markedly panoramic format that accentuates the sensation of distance and silence. Sky and water contend for luminous primacy through an interplay of vibrant pinks, faded blues, and violets that seem to dissolve across the surface. At the margins, blurred arboreal masses act as theatrical wings rendered in charcoal and smoke tones, framing a visual recession that draws the eye toward an urban silhouette or a bridge barely suggested at the center of the background.

The paint is applied in an almost translucent manner, relying on dry brushwork and sweeping gestures that allow the canvas weave to participate in the construction of the atmosphere. This restraint in impasto yields an effect of winter mist or late glare, where air itself seems physically interposed between the viewer and the terrain. Rather than describing botanical or architectural details with precision, the stroke evokes the tremor of bare branches through subtle scrapings and vertical touches that contrast with the horizontal stillness of the water.

Across the lower register, the aquatic mirror inverts the chromatic drama of the sky, doing so with a murkier gravity shadowed by the banks. This imperfect symmetry generates a serene tension between the atmospheric lightness above and the quiet density of the water.

«Deseado» establishes a liminal realm between topographical memory and interior mood. The diffuse presence of the city in the distance hints at a yearning for civilization or return, while the foreground remains unpopulated, suspended in solitary contemplation where light seeks not to illuminate the terrain, but to register the precise moment of its fading.
