Curatorial analysis

An igneous glow breaks through the vegetal gloom and immediately focuses the gaze on a silent presence. On a scale of extraordinary dimensions for the inherent fragility of pastel, the surface confronts two opposing emotional temperatures: the incandescent glare of vermilions and ochres against the cold depth of the midnight blues that envelop everything.

Toward the left appears the dome of a golden cage whose bars, slender as threads of light, enclose the serene profile of a woman. Her face, modeled with ivory smoothness, gazes into the density of the forest without theatrical distress, immersed in enigmatic contemplation. The headdress or mantle shielding her merges with the deep blues of the surroundings, while the dome seems simultaneously an imprisonment and a protective sanctuary. Behind and around the bars, a flare of pure orange suggests a suffocating atmosphere or an inextinguishable inner fire.

To the right of the cage, the pictorial mass thickens into a tangle of leaves, shadows, and sharp flashes that consume the linear architecture. Between vigorously rubbed areas and the angular strokes of the foliage, barely hinted presences emerge, spectral faces and gazes watching from their camouflage in the underbrush. The powdery medium of pastel achieves an almost tactile carnality here, alternating dense, opaque layers with subtle scrapes and veils that allow the luminous vibration of the ground to breathe.

The captivity completely transcends the literal fact of the bars. The tension is not resolved between a clear inside and outside, but rather in the unsettling ambiguity inhabiting that threshold. The outer world lurks with a vitality as menacing as it is fascinating, while the caged interior preserves an almost mystical calm. Seclusion thus takes on the condition of an intimate mental state, where beauty, desire, and isolation coexist under the same impassioned light.
