Curatorial analysis

A bold sun, rendered in concentric spirals of yellow and ochre, commands the upper right quadrant and sets the thermal pitch for the entire scene. Before it, two stylized palm trees unfurl their fronds like rhythmic fans punctuated by rows of luminous dots, while their clusters take the shape of violet volutes. Rather than mimicking the botanical anatomy of the Caribbean coast, the vegetation reinterprets it through an ornamental grammar charged with dynamism.

The composition unfolds across overlapping planes and decorative bands reminiscent of textile design. A glowing, deep red serves as the central ground, traversed by delicate golden arabesques that converse with the stippled textures framing the trunks on the left. Toward the base, a striped border of red and green separates the foliage from the sea, which is rendered as a sky-blue field invaded by dark calligraphic signs floating like minor currents or dancing characters. This juxtaposition of textures, where pointillism coexists with flat color fields and sinuous filigree, fosters a persistent tension between decorative flatness and surface vibration.

To the right, a dark mass stippled with carmine hints at maritime twilight, contrasting with a sandy shore built from dense constellations of dots and patches of luminous green. Andrade departs from traditional perspective to assemble the sunset as an accumulative experience: the landscape is perceived through color saturation, the reiterated cadence of curves, and a repertoire of symbols where nature turns into a graphic celebration. The painting's generous scale envelopes the gaze in that coastal warmth, transmuting tropical memory into a vibrant tapestry of signs and chromatic pulses.
